The way I have stayed focused is setting small, realistic goals for myself through out this year. I LOVE goals. They give me something to focus on and I guess it's a way for me to compete with myself. (As I have said before, I am abnormally competitive)
I have planned that on average, I will lose about 2 lbs. a week. Based upon that number, I can estimate what I will weigh and when. With this said, this weekend I reached a milestone. One of my goals was to be 145 lbs. by Labor Day. So you can imagine my excitement when I got on the scale this morning and saw these glorious numbers appear on the screen.
These numbers signify one thing. I have lost over 80 lbs.!!!! 145 would have put me right at 80. You see, I've had to continually make a choice to do what's best for my body, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It's not like I wake up every morning with this amazing willpower to conquer every temptations that comes my way. (I'm talking in regards with food) I have to CHOOSE daily to make the right decisions for me. For my goals that I have set for myself. Each day it has gotten easier, I can say that. But it's not something that happens over night.
Below is the progression of my body. As I have said in earlier posts, on January 7th, 2012 I weighed in at 225 lbs. with my nutritionist. The second picture is when I ran my first 10K race, the Crescent City Classic in April of this year. At that point, I was down 38 lbs. The last picture was taken yesterday. 82 lbs. later!!!! (And based upon the average weight of a ten year old, I am proud to say that I lost the equivalent of one 10 year old.)
Life is what we make it. Our choices can affect our lives in so many ways. Healthy Living is a choice that you have to choose everyday. But when we start to identify the benefits of it, we find the value and it makes the choice easier. For instance, when I lost the first 10 lbs. in my first week, I thought, Hmmm, I may have something here. And when I began to have more energy that any coke or coffee could give me, I thought again, There may be something to this. Next thing you know, my choices began to get easier to make because I know the effects of them.
You can make this change. It's not radical. But it is a commitment to yourself. And you are soooo worth it! And this is the purpose of my blog. To help people get started and equip them with the tools necessary to begin this road to better living.
This entry is a little long, but it breaks my heart seeing people controlled by food and other things. It's time to take control back from the mercy of food. This can be your beginning. Here are some other pictures taken yesterday by my wonderful photographer of a husband :)
These pants were getting too tight on me in January.
Notice how the top of the "fat" pants say Slim. They are supposed to be slim fit.
No more belly :)
It's time for you to get off your butt and make a better change for yourself!
