So I thought long and hard and decided I needed to run a full marathon. (26.2 miles for those wondering :) I've mentioned my trainer/friend Beverly from time to time in my blog. When I decided to run my first full marathon, I could think of no better person to run it with me than the person who turned my into the running monster that I am! I let her get away with running only the first half marathon, but on Friday we are making the journey to San Francisco, California where we'll run our races.
Being from Louisiana, there are few hills to train on and since I chose to run a city completely built on hills, training has been...interesting. Up and down overpasses, over bridges, up the levee, down the levee. Again, interesting. But never the less, ready or not, it's here and there is nothing I can do about it!
I got so nervous yesterday thinking about how I was going to run the race. I've only spent the last 6 month preparing for this thing! But all of the sudden, I wanted to chicken out. That is soooo not me. It was weird.
I'm from the hotter than hell south, where between the hot temperatures and the humidity, training lately has been rough. But looking at the weather, the start temperature in San Fran is supposed to be 50 degrees! Holy Moly.... I might be frozen to the starting line.
You can track me during the race here. Check back for my race updates and pictures. For those in the greater New Orleans area, I'll be starting a running workshop to help beginning runners condition, train and enjoy running.
Wish me luck!
